RUNNERS RACE DAY PREP & RECOVERY WORKSHOP

Sun 27th September 2026

10:00am – 1:00pm | Llansannor Community Hall

Led by chartered physiotherapist Rhi Bowden and run coach/former professional runner & triathlete Adam Bowden,

you'll be guided through exactly what your body needs in the final week before Cardiff Half Marathon

(and just as importantly, what not to worry about).

Whether it's your first half marathon or your tenth, if you want to head into race day feeling calm and prepared rather than anxious about what you don't know, this workshop is for you.

We'll cover:

What to focus on during race week

How to warm up and stay ready during a long wait in the start pen

On-course fuelling and hydration strategy

Recovery strategies including sleep, nutrition and hydration

Opportunity to try recovery tools such as compression boots, massage and mobility equipment

A group demonstration on taping for common running niggles (shin splints, knee pain, Achilles)

The session will finish with a guided stretch, mobility and relaxation session, incorporating breathwork

to help you feel calm, loose, and ready.

Whether it's your first race or you're looking to improve your experience, this workshop will give you the

knowledge and confidence to approach race day feeling your best.

Investment: £50

Limited to 12 spaces.

"Loved it. You can buy all the stuff but knowing how to use it and how much pressure,

where to position tools on your own body."

"I feel more confident in my training and what I have done in the build up to the race. It was lovely to be part of a supportive group who were all very friendly!"

"Loved being able to try the different tools there, also the expert advice on what and

how to stretch and breathe."

What to bring: a mat, a cushion or towel, and a water bottle.

If you use any recovery equipment (compression boots, a massage gun, foam roller etc)

feel free to bring it along, we're happy to help you get more out of it.
